Gods Echo in Pakistan

Friends I have such good news to share with you all. Our team in Pakistan has shared with us how the Lord has helped them to free a family of 5 from slavery. Yes slavery, you read it correctly. Did you know that there are children as young as 3 working up to 15 hours a day in the sun with their families to make sure they make 1000 bricks per day for their boss so that they don’t get beaten or mistreated! It’s so sad to think that this is happening still in 2019, it blows my mind.

This particular family borrowed a loan from the landlord for their grandpas funeral costs. Times got tough and they couldn’t pay the debit of $100 US dollars back, so the landlord took the family (husband, wife, 1 toddler, 2 kids ) and made them live at the brick kiln, working 12- 15 hours per day. Where there was harsh treatment , and when 1000 bricks per day were not met they were being beaten up. They have been there for 3 years. When Chris, Heidi and myself found out, we knew we had to be involved in this situation as that’s what the Lord would do. So our team members met with the landlord and paid the $100 debit plus the interest which was $1100. They were given release documents and now live in another city. The father of the family said he and his wife cried the whole way in the taxi as freedom tasted so good! They couldn’t believe God helped them like that, they never imagined that this day would come!

Isaiah 41:13

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

We decided at Echo that each country we do work in will have different needs, for example some of the countries in Africa we provide free education skills, however in the area we have Echo in Pakistan, modern day slavery is an issue. So we decided to help those families such as this one, and pay their debit. For security reasons we have blanked out the faces of the family and not provided their names, as well as our team members. Please do understand, Pakistan is not a good place for Christians and we cannot put these peoples lives at risk.
